Door Profiling Service

Digital frame measurement for a precise architectural opening 2D profile.

The creation of a precise architectural opening 2D profile. This is generated by a digital measuring of the frame following installation. Exact dimensions of the frame as well as hinge and latch positions are accounted for.

This data is input into a CNC machine during the door manufacturing stage with accurate dimensions accounted for and hardware preparations pre-cut. The door arrives on-site with no further preparation required before hanging.

Steps Detailed

Steps Detailed

1. Initial Documentation

Project door set information is documented (door type/handing, scheduled hardware, clearance requirements, and floor type and thickness). With this information, a technician will arrange a site measure.

2. On-site measurement

The technician will digitally measure the frames by defining points around each frame. A 2D profile* of each frame is created to accurately mirror the frame shape allowing the correct gap for installation. This data is to be sent to the door manufacturing team.

3. Door manufacture using profile data

The data gathered from profiling is input into a CNC machine. The doors are manufactured to the precise dimensions outlined and hardware cutouts are made. At this point in the process, optional pre-priming of doors is available for minimal fuss once delivered. The doors are delivered to the job site ready for hanging.

* As this is a 2D profile, note that it will not recognise axial twisting in the frame.

Benefits

Benefits

Time Efficient

Time Efficient

The door installer simply needs to hang the door with no preparations to be made as they were already completed in the manufacturing stage.

Compliance

Compliance

Profiling precision assists with AS1905 Fire Door compliance wherein no greater than a 3mm gap between door and frame is permitted.

Cost Efficient

Cost Efficient

Save on cost by saving on labour. The reduction in on-site labour allows for a quicker submission of progress claims and to move on to the next project.

Less Mess

Less Mess

The setup and tools typically required in preparing a door are eliminated. The result is a streamlined process that cuts down on clean up.

Safe Site

Safe Site

A safe job site is the result of needing fewer people and tools on-site. Reduced dust is a positive for the health and safety of workers.

Precision

Precision

The profiling machinery has the exact dimensions of hardware input into its database. This is transcribed onto the door with engineered accuracy in the routings.
